Goodbye

After all those exams I'm a bit fed up with writing, so my farewell is a short film inspired by a song I used to use at school:

Recommendation

I've already written about some things I like, books, films and music. Those of you who read those posts are already familiar with the name Marian Keyes. She is a writer. Now, why her? Simply because I like her very much (what a subjective argument, isn't it). Well, first of all, she's Irish, and, apparently as most Poles (God knows why), I love anything Irish;) Besides that, she's got a great sense of humour, of course if one likes that kind of sense of humour... Her writing is hilarious and very witty as well, her characters are 'normal' people (mostly), although they don't always seem sane. She describes everyday situations in such a way you just have to laugh. Even unfortunate events are somehow funny, well, not the events themselves, but the way in which they're described. I've only read four of her books and started fifth so far, but definitely not going to stop! The ones I know are: Watermelon, Sushi for Beginners, Angels and Under the Duvet (non-fiction, a collection of essays) and partly The Other Side of the Story (but I already like it). Web page

This is the web page I made: http://www.myunitedkingdom.republika.pl/
It's better to open it in Internet Explorer to see everything, because Firefox doesn't show marqee animation and doesn't play background sound. Enjoy;)

In five-years' time

Well, to be honest I don't even know what my life is going to look like next year, but I'll try to strain my imagination. Hopefully I will be in some kind of relationship, maybe married, although I'm not sure I can count on it taking into account my present situation;)
I'll probably be a teacher, making extra money on tutoring.
I can hope for being a better person, more understanding. In more down-to-earth aspects, I hope for being a bit more fit, hehe, a better cook and a more organised person.
In five-years time I definitely will be more experienced with the experience of five years more in this world. I will have been to all those places I haven't visited yet, but really want to. I will have taken thousands more photographs.

Cannot believe it!

Oh my word! I honstly cannot believe in the news about John's death! He was such a good person and a great teacher as well. I remember seeing him for the first time during the very meeting with students just at the beginning of my first year. I was terrified - I couldn't understand a thing of what he was saying. But then I got used to his accent during History lessons. I loved his lessons, he always tried to make it as pleasant and interesting as possible. He made little jokes and gave us some surprising facts. "...Richard the Lionheart. And, actually, he was gay." Bless him. This is already a second KJO teacher that I knew who died within those years I've been studying here.
"So it goes."

Rent-a-person

Have you seen 'Validation' on Bundle's blog? If not, do it!
If you've seen it, here's something that you might like. Remember the couple in bow-ties on the bus? Here's the story of their relationship:

The new president

As I really dislike politics, just a short message.
The USA has a new president. Bless him! Most importantly, Bush is gone.
Now, hopefully nothing similar to those underneath will come out of Obama's mouth.
G.W. Bush:
“We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of NATO. We have a
firm commitment to Europe. We are a part of Europe.”

“The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country.”
“It isn’t pollution that’s harming the environment. It’s the impurities in our air and water that are doing it. “
“Well, I think if you say you’re going to do something and don’t do it, that’s trustworthiness."
“I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future.”
“We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur.”
“I’m also not very analytical. You know I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things.”
“I don’t have the foggiest idea about what I think about international foreign policy.”

22 January

I was in England then, I mean 22nd January. The thing that happened that day absolutely shocked me, as it did many people. It was the day of Heath Ledger's death. In two days time it'll be a year since he's left his family and his little daughter. Bless her!
So here's something from me, just to honour his memory.

And here is a link to the last interview with Heath: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vwjnRY7Krg

Teaching

During the final year of my high school I changed my mind several times as to what to study when I graduate. In the end I set my mind on English, because I've always loved this language and, frankly, I though I was quite good at it. The next thing I remember is Kay Jay Oh. Just kidding, I applied for IFA as well, but well... So here I am, and now IFA can only be jealous to have not admitted such a brilliant student, hehe. Since I started KJO I have been sure I wanted to be a teacher. But now, since I teach eight hours a week in a primary school, I do have some doubts. I still think I have some kind of gift for teaching, it's just the job is killing me. Maybe if it was higher level, like LO or something. It's not that I don't like kiddoes, they're great...sometimes. Mostly they just chat and don't learn. Besides, teaching colours and numbers is not what I want to do for the rest of my life, honestly.
Anyway, I don't know yet what to do with my life.
As to teaching practice, for me it's just rubbish. I've been in England for 9 months, working at school. But who cares, right? Because a grade is needed I have to do 30 hours of practice, as if it would help me with anything, as if the 3 observed lessons to get a grade weren't enough. Besides, now that I've been really teaching for a couple of months, I am now sure that the teaching practice is nothing in comparison with proper teaching. It does give teeny-weeny wee little bit of practice, but in my case, it's worthless, just takes time and energy. Whatever!
Tha tha tha thaaaaaat's all folks!
