Well, actually, I was being realistic rather than pessimistic. At least I thought so. Well, in the end, these are the facts. I like going home, cause my family lives there, plus it's cool in the summer, cause we have a big garden. But the village is rubbish. Maybe because I've lived there pretty much the whole my life I prefer city than countryside...not really countryside as such, just my place. None of my neighbours in Poznan knows me, and I'm so glad they don't. You now must think I'm awful, maybe I am, but living next to a person who knows more about you than yourself can be quite annoying. So I do prefer it that way. Besides, I can still meet people I know and care about, not being bothered with surveillance and gossiping.
I guess such closely knit communities may be tiresome, especially for young people who stand out in any way. But there are some aspects of that mini-world you grew up in which you may appreciate later in life. The anonymity of the city has its drawbacks too: no one cares, even if you need help.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thank you for an interesting post (or two, actually) :)
